I thought "My Freshman Year" was a very interesting passage. The idea of a professor going to their school as an incoming freshman to try to understand what it is like to be in their shoes is very different. I feel it was a little strange for the professor to be living in the dorm building with the other students but if she hadn't have done that she would not have gotten the full effect of what is is like to be a college student. It was interesting to read that the professor had not seen even half of the campus. One would think that since she worked there she would know where everything on campus is but because she was really only teaching in one building she didn't. It was also cool how some of the students included her in sports and activities even though she was so much older than them. I feel like this experience really helped the professor understand where her students are coming from more. Being a freshman on campus is not an easy thing. Making friends, being involved in school, and completing all the school work can sometimes be overwhelming for students and I think she now got a better understanding of what it is like to be a student in her classroom.
